HR Apprenticeship

This is a great opportunity to join a world-leading organisation in our Human Resources department. The role of HR Apprentice is ideal for someone who has a keen interest in making the first step towards developing a Human Resources career as our two-year rotational apprenticeship will provide you with exposure to the full HR function.

During your apprenticeship journey you will contribute to the work carried out by a variety of teams, both participating in and leading on a variety of projects whilst learning new skills and gaining invaluable experience from a supportive and encouraging team.

You'll be given real responsibility from the beginning, and as a HR Apprentice you will have the opportunity to work with the teams within our HR function; HR Services, Recruitment, HR Business Partners, and Learning and Engagement.

You will work towards gaining the HR Support, Level 3 Apprenticeship, starting in September 2020.

As an Apprentice you will receive a £750 salary increase per annum, in addition to a further performance-related percentage increase.

Laboratory Assistant

As a Laboratory Assistant for the Advanced Courses and Scientific Conferences Programme you will help to deliver laboratory-based training courses at the Genome Campus, as well as in Africa, Asia and Latin America as part of our Overseas Courses programme.

About the role: 

You will work closely with the Laboratory Manager and Assistant Laboratory Manager to help organise our laboratory-based courses, including:

  • general laboratory housekeeping
  • purchasing of reagents/consumables
  • preparing reagents
  •  tissue culture
  • support for general maintenance and cleaning of laboratory equipment
  • attending course planning meetings and taking minutes
  • production of course materials
  •  helping to write risk assessments for laboratory practicals
  • assisting in the scheduling, liaison and AV support for guest speakers

In this role you will assist with the laboratory preparations for our overseas courses in Latin America, Africa and Asia, including purchasing and shipping of consumables and equipment and, after a suitable training period, accompanying course organisers and instructors to provide onsite laboratory support during the courses.
