Conference & Events Office Administrator
Salary range £18422 to £23027 per annum depending on experience, plus benefits
Fixed term 9 months
We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Administrator to support our busy Advanced Courses and Scientific Conference Programme at the Wellcome Genome Campus.
Working within the Scientific Conference’s event management team you will support the Conference & Events Manager and the Conference & Events Organisers team with their day to day administration. The workload will be varied and include setting up conference calls, processing speaker expense claim forms, attending meetings and minute taking, managing the group e-mail account and updating and maintaining databases, websites and spreadsheets.
To succeed in the role of Conference & Events Office Administrator you will be methodical and well organised, you will be able to work well within a small team and demonstrate excellent communication skills. You will need to be able to work flexibly, meet deadlines and help work on a number of Conference & Events projects which will be at different stages simultaneously.

- Experience in scientific administration or working with academic researchers or commercial organisations organising workshops, conferences, or other events
- Ability to work flexible hours on occasions to assist the events team during out of office hours at external conferences and events would be desirable but not essential
Advanced Courses and Scientific Conferences is the only UK-based programme providing open postgraduate courses and conferences focused on biomedicine. We fund, develop and deliver training and conferences that span basic research, cutting-edge biomedicine, and the application of genomics in healthcare. Our programme spans basic research and translational biology, with an emphasis on large-scale approaches and innovative technologies in genetics, genomics and infectious diseases.
Around 50 events are organised each year attracting up to 3,500 scientists and clinicians to the campus. We have a global reach with delegates from over 100 countries. We also run courses regularly outside the UK, in Latin America, Africa and Asia. These overseas courses provide training tailored to regional biomedical communities in low- and middle-income countries.

The Programme is located near Cambridge, UK on the stunning Wellcome Genome Campus. This growing and dynamic site is the British hub of genomic science. It hosts the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute, EMBL-EBI, Open Targets, a Biodata Innovation Centre and the Genomics England Limited’s 100,000 Genomes Sequencing Centre.
