Public Engagement-Administration and Events Officer (Maternity Cover)
Salary range £26,000 to £31,000 per annum depending on experience plus excellent benefits.
Fixed Term-Maternity Cover.
Wellcome Genome Campus Connecting Science is looking for an enthusiastic Administration and Events Officer to join our dynamic Public Engagement team.
Reporting to the Head of Public Engagement, you will handle the Public Engagement events calendar while taking responsibility for the organisation of some flagship event projects, including our European Researchers’ Night (LifeLab) and Café Sci Cambridge.
As well as providing support to the Head of Public Engagement and wider team, you will act as the first point of contact for the many and varied enquiries coming from a range of communities and partners. Your role will also include the organising of schedules for public and schools groups and liaising with key partners to ensure the successful delivery of our growing calendar of exciting events.
- Experience of administrative support across a broad range of activities and groups
- Events planning and delivery experience
- Effective working within a team
- Computer literacy with Word and Excel
- Experience of financial accounting systems
- Flexibility in working style and practice
- Excellent organisational skills
- High-level interpersonal skills and record of communicating with tact and diplomacy across a wide range of individuals (e.g. academic staff, students, members of the public)
- Ability to multi-task and plan workloads
- Ability to solve problems and resolve day-to-day conflicts, including when to ask for support and guidance
- Good attention to detail with a high level of accuracy
- Preparedness to work outside normal hours and ability to operate effectively within set deadlines
- Experience of a research or academic environment
- Proven record of larger scale event or project management
- Sponsorship and fundraising experience
- Qualification in an events or project related management area
